Safeguarding

At Manor Park Primary School, the welfare of children must and will always be our paramount consideration at all times.  Our children have the right to protection – regardless of age, gender, race, culture or disability. They have a right to be safe in our school.

Key Adults are:

Mrs Sarah Jeffery (Designated Safeguarding Lead) and Mrs Kirsty Thatcher(Deputy Safeguarding Lead) Both of these staff have completed appropriate training led by the LSCB (Local Safeguarding Children Board)

As a school we have a number of policies and procedures in place which contribute to our safeguarding commitment. All of these can be viewed in the Policies section of our website.

As a school, we are required by law to report any obvious signs or suspected cases of child abuse – which include non-accidental injury, neglect, emotional abuse and/or sexual abuse. We will ensure that our concerns about our children are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare. It is hoped that in these instances, parents and carers would accept that the staff acted in what were believed to the child’s best interests.

In line with government requirements we maintain a central list of checks on appointed staff and adults who work in or visit the school. Any volunteer or parent working in the school is subject to full background checks. All adults (staff and visitors) in school are required to wear a Manor Park School & Nursery visitor’s badge which contains key safeguarding information, and must sign in at the school office, where there is access to a safeguarding notice.

Internet safety

We discuss, monitor and review our e-safety policy on a regular basis, linking it with other relevant policies such as Safeguarding, Pupil Behaviour and Anti-Bullying Policies.  At the same time we ensure that pupils are aware of the potential e-safety risks associated with the use of ICT and mobile technologies, and that they feel able and safe to report incidents and abide by the school’s e-safety policy.

Operation Encompass

In conjunction with Cheshire Police, Manor Park Primary School is involved in an initiative called Operation Encompass. The purpose of Operation Encompass is to safeguard and support children and young people who have been involved in, heard or witnessed a domestic abuse incident. Following such an incident, children will often arrive at school distressed, upset, worried and unprepared. Operation Encompass aims to ensure that appropriate school staff (called Key Adults) are made aware early enough to support children and young people in a way that means they feel safe and included.
